A Plan that Doesn’t Require Referrals
CarePlus offers an “open access” Medicare Advantage HMO Plan that is available in the Orlando and Daytona areas for 2024.

What is an open access plan?

An open access plan is a type of Medicare Advantage plan that gives members more freedom because referrals are not required from a primary care physician to see other providers.

Your network primary care physician will coordinate the care you receive from other in-network specialists, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, or home healthcare agencies. However, referrals are not required to receive eligible covered services from in-network providers.

Please note that even though you won’t need a referral to see an in-network  specialist on this type of plan, the specialist may still need preauthorization from your health plan before administering certain types of care. Preauthorization is a step that helps ensure medical necessity of certain services before your health plan covers them.

Should I still see my primary care physician?

Yes. Even though our CareAccess (HMO) open access plan does not require you to see your primary care physician for referrals, you should still see them for your annual wellness visit and other check-ups.

Regularly seeing your primary care physician can help you achieve your best possible overall health.

Who is it for?

If you regularly see certain specialists for needed care, this type of plan might be convenient for you.
